All of us Witches is the second event held by CULTure Babylon to honour the women who were executed under successive Witchcraft Acts in East Anglia.
King's Lynn played an important role in these trials and at least 60 women were put to death in the region during this time.
This exhibition was inspired by the local legend of the Witch's Heart, which we have adapted as the Wyrdfest Logo.
The exhibition explores the history and cultural background to the witch trials. It contains documents and artefacts from the King's Lynn archives showing how the genuinely-held belief that witches could cause physical harm to livestock, communities and individuals became law - and was prosecuted with deadly effect.
The exhibition shows the names of some of the women who were executed in Lynn's Tuesday Marketplace and asks if any of them actually practised witchcraft?
Finally it looks at the practice of witchcraft as a spiritual path today and includes a reminder that, in some parts of the world, the accusation of being a witch can still be a death sentence.
The All of Us Witches exhibition will be on display in the Archive Room and can be accessed as part of the normal museum admission.

Writing workshops with Sue Burge
Established poet, writer, and tutor Sue Burge leads two workshops inspired by King's Lynn's role in the witch trials.
Take part in either workshop for £25 or book both for just £40.
The cost includes email feedback to help you polish one piece for inclusion in the All of Us Witches exhibition.
The workshops will take place at the Education Room at Stories of Lynn on Wednesday 14th October 2026.

Voices in the burning air
In this workshop we will explore the atmosphere of fear and suspicion which prevailed during Matthew Hopkins’ reign of terror. We will discuss poetry and prose which gives voice to those accused of witchcraft in order to inspire your own new writing via a series of innovative prompts.

Practical Magic
Love potions and hexes, curses and blessings: in this workshop we will look at the power of poetic spells to enable you to conjure your own practical magic in response!
